Junior Cyclo Cross Awards –2012 Season
As ever it was the cyclocross season that closed out the year for the North Down racers and what a vintage year it was. Our team grew significantly with some big hitters joining the fray to battle it out in the mud mano a mano with our more experienced ‘cross riders. Whilst in the senior categories our ladies and gents scored some fantastic victories in terrible conditions it was our junior girls and boys who were doing the most damage. From the beginning of the season right to the bitter end they fought it out and on many occasions closing out the top three positions in their categories. Recently their toil was awarded when Martin Grimley, tireless campaigner for off road cycling, came down to Bangor to reward them for their efforts.
Congratulations to our three junior riders:
Molly McLarnon – 1st Under 14 girl
Will Hamilton – 1st Under 14 boy
Ben Webb – 3rd Under 14 boy
2013 Season
The winter transfer window has closed and as ever North Down Cycling Club, while losing no significant riders, has gained a few more big hitters. Welcome all new members to the club. As ever the club will be participating in all forms of cycling events, for all ages and with male and female riders. From our road racers and time triallists to mountain bikers and tourists. There’s a discipline for everyone and we hope that all our riders have a safe and enjoyable 2013 season. We’ve a new ladies racing team whilst out junior riders are going from strength to strength ensuring that the North Down legacy will continue. Matty Blayney is now racing in the highest category, an achievement that he can be very proud of ensuring that Pink and Black will continue to lead from the front.
