The Committee meeting last night agreed the following issues: SATURDAY RIDES – the Saturday morning rides continue to attract the largest number of club riders. Due to the neccessity to ensure the safety of all riders and members of the public the Committee have agreed that each group must consist of no more than 20 riders i.e. the length of the group should be no longer than 10 bikes. The Portaferry run will leave first and should only contain riders who are capable of completing the full distance.
There will be 2 Cloughy runs the first of which will suit riders who wish to ride at a challenging pace. The second ride will do the same distance at a lesser pace and must not catch the frst group. The Ballyhalbert run will leave next and will suit riders who want a shorter ride or are stepping up from the novice ride. Finally, the novice ride will leave last and will be escorted by experienced riders at a pace to suit everyone. Each group must nominate a suitable Road Captain who will be responsible for maintaining ride discipline and safety. Any instances of bad riding by club or non-club riders within the group should be brought to the attention of a Committee member. These measures are not introduced to put restrictions on your enjoyment of the ride but to try and ensure each group is adequately accountable for their own road safety. Each member should try and ensure they start with a group they are capable of staying with. It is also recommended that each group should maintain a speed of no higher than 18mph from the clubroom until the left-hand turn onto the D'dee Rd after G'port. This will allow every rider the chance to at least get warmed up for the ride. COASTAL CHALLENGE – the Coastal Challenge is our biggest charity event of the year and we are hoping for around 1000 riders to take the challenge this year.We still need more more members/friends/family to assist with the marshalling and sign-on for this event. If you haven't already volunteered please contact us immediately to help out. Finally, a date for your diary. The annual club BBQ will be held at Pickie on Saturday 3rd September. It will be the format as last years great night with entertainment and food for only £5 per head.Tickets can be reserved nearer the time.
