Just a note to say that the Hot Port / Soup run will take place on Saturday 19th December.
A number of rides of varying distances will be led by Harry Adams, Eric Blayney, Claire Ta Dah, Pete Doggart and Mark Thomson.
The plan is for everyone to meet up in the Saltwater Brigg between 11.30 and 12.30, where Orlaigh the owner will have both fires lit and we will have the place to ourselves.
The Committee have kindly agreed to meet the cost of a bowl of soup and crusty for all members.
Details of routes and exact start times and meeting points will be added closer to the day, but if you would like to join a ride, could you just send me a very short email (johnny@webbandco.co.uk) so that I can give Orlaigh an idea of numbers in advance.
Many Thanks, Johnny Webb
Details of Rides and Routes
‘Portaferry Port Run’. Taken by Mark Thompson
Leaving the club rooms (Ward Park) 08.45 following the normal route of the Portaferry run. We can adjust the route on the road allowing for the weather conditions on the day to arrive on time. 60miles/with a group usually doing an extra loop after. All welcome.
Eric’s ‘Don’t pay the Ferryman’ Ramble. Taken by Eric Blayney.
Leaving the club rooms at 9 am SHARP, Eric will take a rambling paced ride down through Downpatrick, Strangford, over to P’ferry and up to Saltwater Brigg. (ps. Eric is by no means encouraging riders not to pay the £1 ferry crossing- just thought that would be a catchy title for the ride.)
Claire Ta Dah’s ‘Halbert Hot Port Shuffle’ will leave the club rooms at 9.15 and take in the normal Ballyhalbert run before shuffling across to the Brigg. The small print on this one is for ‘those not keen to race, pace or lose their heads’.
Harry’s Yuletide Traditional Milf Run will leave Groomsport Rd Roundabout at 9.05 and take the traditional route down to P’ferry. After the traditional coffee stop in P’ferry, the ride will make its normal way back until just before Rubane, when Harry will lead those that fancy the Brigg to peel off, leaving the rest to follow the traditional last leg home.
‘Pete’s Penance’. Leaving the cub rooms at 8.55, Pete’s Penance will be both on and off the ‘Pen’, taking in Ballygowan, Ards and a few surprises along the way, before heading down to the Brigg.
