Like Christmas Day, Easter and our very own Coastal Challenge some events take place no matter what the weather. On 29th December North Down showed what a hardy bunch they are with a fine turnout for the annual Mince Pie Run. Leaving the Marquis Hall in Bangor in miserable conditions Ian Blayney and Trevor Nicoletti led a group of over 45 riders for a short ride down the peninsula. As per previous years it was well represented by friends and families and despite the damp conditions everyone enjoyed themselves.
Post ride the plentiful mince pies were washed down with copious amounts of tea, coffee and the odd hot port! The ladies were on hand to make sure all ran smoothly with Terry Nicoletti in particular showing who wears the marigolds in his house!
Well done also to the hardy riders who participated and a special thanks to all that helped out behind the scenes. It capped yet another fine season for North Down. Whilst perhaps not quite as prestigious as some of our other flagship events such as The Coastal Challenge, The North Down G.P., Club Ramble, extensive club race series and of course The Hot Port Run it proves yet again that North Down caters for all age groups, abilities and disciplines proving time and time again that North Down C.C. is one of Ireland’s leading cycling clubs.
